Below is a press release from the Tram Nguyen for Congress campaign:
ANDOVER, MA — Massachusetts Speaker of the House Ron Mariano is endorsing State Representative Tram Nguyen in her campaign to become the next Congressperson to represent the 6th District of Massachusetts.
“Tram has dedicated her career to improving the lives of others,” shared Speaker Mariano. “From helping constituents through the pandemic to advancing equity for working families, women, and our most vulnerable communities, she leads with both compassion and results. She will be a fierce champion for working families in Washington and I am proud to endorse her.”
The endorsement of the Speaker comes less than a week after State Representatives Rich Haggerty and Dave Robertson threw their support behind Rep. Nguyen, both of whom represent parts of the 6th Congressional District. The three State House electeds also join State Representative Manny Cruz of Salem, who endorsed Rep. Nguyen in 2025.
ABOUT TRAM T. NGUYEN
State Representative Tram Nguyen has overcome tough challenges her entire life. At just five years old, Tram came to the United States as a refugee after her family fled Vietnam’s authoritarian regime with only $100, a few suitcases, and a dream. She is the first in her family to graduate from college, earning degrees from Tufts University, Northeastern School of Law, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Before entering public service, Tram served as an attorney at Greater Boston Legal Services, where she led the Civil Legal Assistance for Victims of Crime program. She stood up for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, veterans, immigrants, low-wage workers, and people with disabilities—people who needed not just a lawyer but a relentless advocate. In that role, Tram became a member of UAW Local 2320.
In 2018, Tram took on a deeply entrenched Republican incumbent and won by ten points, making history as the first Vietnamese American woman ever elected to public office in Massachusetts. Since then, she has served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives as a bold champion for climate action, affordable housing, workers’ rights, and economic opportunity for all.
Tram Nguyen’s journey from refugee to state leader is a testament to the power of resilience, the promise of opportunity, and the belief that when we fight for one another, we all rise together.
