RACE FOR THE SIXTH: Wilmington’s State Rep. Dave Robertson Endorses Tram Nguyen For Congress

Below is a press release from the Tram Nguyen for Congress campaign. Nguyen is running for the Massachusetts 6th Congressional District seat, currently held by Seth Moulton, who is not seeking re-election as he runs for Senate.

ANDOVER, MA — This week, State Representatives Rich Haggerty and Dave Robertson are both endorsing Tram Nguyen in her Congressional race. Haggerty, who currently serves as the Joint Committee on Housing, represents part of Reading, and Robertson represents the towns of Wilmington and Tewksbury, which he shares with Rep. Nguyen.

“I’m proud to stand with Tram because she has been here, on the ground, delivering for our communities for years,” said State Representative Haggerty. “She knows what our towns need, and she’s not afraid to roll up her sleeves and get to work. I know she’ll be a friend and champion of the people of Reading as their next Congresswoman.”

State Representative Robertson shared that “ Tram is exactly the kind of leader Tewksbury and Wilmington need in Congress. From delivering funding for our Fire Department, to standing with and for our veterans, she’s been an incredible partner in public service. I know she will work tirelessly to deliver for us in Washington.”

About Tram T. Nguyen

State Representative Tram Nguyen has overcome tough challenges her entire life. At just five years old, Tram came to the United States as a refugee after her family fled Vietnam’s authoritarian regime with only $100, a few suitcases, and a dream. She is the first in her family to graduate from college, earning degrees from Tufts University, Northeastern School of Law, and the Harvard Kennedy School.

Before entering public service, Tram served as an attorney at Greater Boston Legal Services, where she led the Civil Legal Assistance for Victims of Crime program. She stood up for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, veterans, immigrants, low-wage workers, and people with disabilities—people who needed not just a lawyer but a relentless advocate. In that role, Tram became a member of UAW Local 2320.

In 2018, Tram took on a deeply entrenched Republican incumbent and won by ten points, making history as the first Vietnamese American woman ever elected to public office in Massachusetts. Since then, she has served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives as a bold champion for climate action, affordable housing, workers’ rights, and economic opportunity for all.

Tram Nguyen’s journey from refugee to state leader is a testament to the power of resilience, the promise of opportunity, and the belief that when we fight for one another, we all rise together.
