OBITUARY: Irene M. (Slepoy) Barrett, 96

LYNN, MA — Irene M. (Slepoy) Barrett, 96 of Lynn, passed away surrounded by her loving children on Thursday January 15, 2026, at the Residence at Melrose Station. A life-long Lynn resident, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Slepoy and Helena (Pacevicz) Lesburt. Irene was the beloved wife of the late Robert Mazzola and the late William J Barrett Jr.

Irene was a graduate of Lynn English High School and then attended Burdett Business College in Lynn. She worked as an inspector at General Electric in West Lynn for over 25 years and then in the Aerospace Division at AMETEK in Wilmington for over 10 years. Irene enjoyed playing Bingo, traveling, especially to Foxwoods, dancing, camping, and watching the Patriots and Red Sox. She was also a longtime active member of the Peabody Senior Center. Irene mostly enjoyed family holidays and get togethers, but her pride and joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Irene is survived by her children; Donna Barrett Coppola of Allenstown, NH, Elaine Barrett Schipilliti of Lynn, John Barrett of Lynn, and LeeAnn Cutter of Lynn, her brother Clyde Stubbs and his wife Sandra of Peabody, her 10 grandchildren; Michael, Deanne, Cindy, Anthony, Dennis, Christian, Jennifer, Suzanne, Jason, Danielle, and their spouses, 20 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husbands Robert Mazzola and William J Barrett Jr, her daughter Linda McCabe, brothers Kenneth Slepoy and Henry Slepoy.

Irene’s funeral service will be held at 10AM on Thursday January 22, 2026 at SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME 426 Broadway (Rt129) Lynn, followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
