Wilmington High School Named To Advanced Placement (AP) School Honor Roll

Below is a press release from Wilmington High School:

WILMINGTON, MA — The College Board announced that Wilmington High School has been named to the Advanced Placement Program (AP) School Honor Roll for the 2024-2025 school year, earning a Silver overall distinction. The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools that expand access to rigorous coursework while maintaining strong student performance.  This was based on the following evaluations:

  • 58% of seniors who took at least one AP exam during high school (Silver)
  • 56% of seniors scored 3+ on at least one AP exam (Platinum – highest tier)
  • 18% of seniors who took five or more AP exams (Platinum – highest tier)

“This year’s AP Honor Roll distinction reflects continued academic excellence at Wilmington High School. Our students are challenged to undertake rigorous coursework, and are empowered to succeed,” said Ryan Gendron, Principal of Wilmington High School. “This marks the first time WHS has earned Platinum recognition in two indicators. Congratulations to our students and teachers on this impressive accomplishment, as well as to our school counselors, whose encouragement often motivates students to engage in AP-level coursework for the first time.”

College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) enables students to pursue college-level studies with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both – while still in high school. Through AP courses in 40 subjects, each culminating in a challenging exam, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue – skills that prepare them for college and beyond.

“AP represents an opportunity for students to stand out to colleges, earn college credit and placement, and potentially boost their grade point averages,” said Trevor Packer, head of the AP program.  “The schools have shown that they can expand access to these college-level courses and still drive high performance – they represent the best of our AP program.”

Wilmington High School currently offers 21 AP courses, with plans to expand to AP Business and Personal Finance in the near future.
