Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — Jennie V. Spada (Mottola), age 92, of Wilmington, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Born in Cambridge, MA, on August 5, 1933, Jennie was the beloved daughter of the late John and Michelina (Cardinale) Mottola. She was raised in Somerville as one of six siblings in a close-knit and loving Italian family. Jennie attended Somerville schools and was a proud graduate of Somerville High School.
In 1955, Jennie married her sweetheart, Albert J. Spada. In 1964, the couple made Wilmington their home, where they raised their beautiful family and built a life filled with love, laughter, and togetherness. Albert’s talents as an Engineer led him to construct three homes for Jennie throughout their marriage—homes she treasured and took great joy in filling with family and friends.
Jennie was an amazing cook who loved gathering family around her table for memorable meals. A devoted wife, mother, who was proud of her family, and she deeply cared for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a gifted seamstress, able to work with all kinds of fabric, and found great joy in ceramics classes, where she created many beautiful pieces over the years.
Jennie loved to travel with her husband, both throughout the United States and abroad. She delighted in learning about new customs, meeting new people, and discovering new places. She had a lifelong thirst for knowledge, with a deep passion for history and politics, and was well read and self-taught on many subjects. Visiting historical buildings and sites was one of her favorite pastimes.
Prior to her retirement, Jennie worked for many years in Accounts Payable for Atlas Paper in Woburn, MA and then as an assistant to the buyer for Lechmere Sales in Woburn, MA. She was a trusted and valued employee, known for her dedication and skill at both organizations.
Jennie will be remembered as a wonderful lady who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was the beloved wife of the late Albert J. Spada, and the devoted mother of Dr. Janice Spada; Lorraine Jacintho and her husband Scott; Laura Baptiste and her husband Carl; and Elizabeth DiStefano and her husband Gino. She was the loving “Nonnie” of Alexandra and her husband Christian, Emilio, Lisetta, Carl and his fiancée Kelly, Nicholas and his wife Hannah, Quintin, Leonardo, and great-grandchildren Orson and Noelle.
Jennie was the dear sister of Josephine “Dolly” Silva and was predeceased by her siblings Annie Peters, Carmella “Millie” Bosco, Angelina “Angie” Rappoli, and Anthony “Tony” Mottola. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Anna Spada and many loving nieces and nephews.
At Jennie’s request, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to your favorite charity.
