Below is an announcement from Wilmington Community Television’s “Book Stew:”
Please join me for the 145th episode of Book Stew, featuring returning author L. Annette Binder, for our discussion of her new book Child of Earth and Starry Heaven, a tribute to her mother Helena and to their journey together through Helena’s dementia. Far from being a depressing read, the author shares the strength of their bond, along with her observations of the New Hampshire facility where Helena finishes out her days.
Most of us are familiar with the brutal progression of losing loved ones into the ether, here gently, but sometimes violently. As Binder weaves her personal experiences together with thoughtful medical and scientific information, there is some hope and much appreciation of their loving relationship.
