Wilmington Residents Invited To Sean Collier Day Ceremony On January 2

Below is an announcement from the Wilmington Police Department:

WILMINGTON, MA — The Town of Wilmington invites residents and members of the public to attend the annual Sean Collier Day Observance ceremony.

The ceremony will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 11am, in front of the Sean Collier Memorial Tree at Rotary Park (1 Adelaide Street).

Officer Sean A. Collier was a Wilmington native and a dedicated member of the MIT Police Department. Known for his quiet professionalism, kindness, and unwavering commitment to service, Officer Collier was tragically killed in the line of duty on April 18, 2013. His sacrifice left a lasting impact on Wilmington, the law enforcement community, and all who knew him.

Sean Collier Day was established by the Town of Wilmington to honor his life, service, and ultimate sacrifice. Each year, the community gathers at his memorial to remember Sean, reflect on the values he lived by, and reaffirm our shared commitment to service, courage, and remembrance.

All are welcome to attend.
