LIBRARY NEWS: Wilmington Library To Host 12 Programs Next Week, Including Pokémon Club On December 23

Library Closure

The library will be closing at 12:30pm on December 24th, and all day December 25th in celebration of Christmas.

Needleworkers at Night

These nighttime sessions are perfect for anyone who does any kind of needle craft but can’t make it to Needleworkers during the day! Drop-in.

Hearing Aid Tips & Tricks
Monday, December 22, 7pm
This hybrid monthly meeting is a place for people to trade tips and tricks on how to get the most out of their hearing aids. Led by Technology Librarian Brad. You can attend in-person or virtually on Zoom.

Needleworkers
Friday, December 26, 10am
This is a social group for those who do any kind of needle craft. Bring your knitting, crocheting, quilting, etc. and enjoy conversation and camaraderie. Drop-in.

Cocoa & Cozy Crafts
Saturday, December 27, 3pm
Take some time to unwind with our DIY Hot Cocoa bar with fun mix-ins and a variety of simple crafts. Please note this is a social event for Adults only (why should kids have all the fun?)

Wikipedia Speedrace Tournament
Monday, December 22, 2pm
Compete to race from one Wikipedia page to another as fast as possible, only using the in-page links! How many articles will it take you to go from “Grilled Cheese” to “Germany”, or from “Pokémon” to “Paul McCartney”? We’ll have prizes for the winners! Grades 6-12

Stories, Songs & S’mores!

Join us by our family campfire for a fun-filled evening of stories, songs, yummy snacks, and a special craft! Ages 3 and up and their families.

Pokémon Club
Tuesday, December 23, 10am
Pokémon fans, unite! Trade cards and complete Pokémon activities with friends! Grades K-5, siblings welcome.

Gift Wrap Party!
Tuesday, December 23, 2-4pm
Kids, come wrap gifts for your friends and family! Drop in and bring your presents to wrap (limit 5 per family), get into the holiday spirit, have some hot cocoa, and make your own special gift tags! While supplies last.

Wrap + Yap
Tuesday, December 23, 6pm
Tweens & teens, drop in (or register to receive reminders) at the library to wrap presents and chat! We’ll have hot cocoa and cozy music. Grades 6-12

Crafty Kids

Jane Austen’s 250th Birthday Bingo
Celebrate Jane Austen’s 250th anniversary with us at WML! Now through December 31st, adults and teens are invited to play Jane Austen Bingo. Pick up a bingo sheet at the library, complete the activities, and return it to earn raffle ticket for our Austen-themed prize basket. Each completed bingo line counts as one raffle entry.

Save the Date!
Join us to speak French with other Francophiles! WML has a new monthly group for anyone who loves to speak and listen to French. Join group leader, Nathalie Hayduk for this stress-free, low-key group to speak French on a more regular basis. The first meeting will be on Thursday, January 29th at 7pm. All future meetings will take place on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7pm!

Book Store Next Door
Celebrate the winter holidays with the Friends of the Library Bookstore Next Door! All November and December holiday-themed books are half-off to help you give the gift of literature this season. While the store will be open for last-minute shopping on Saturday, Dec. 20, it will be closed the following dates: Wednesday, Dec. 24, Saturday, Dec. 27 and Wednesday, Dec. 31. In January and February, the Bookstore Next Door will be open Saturdays only, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
