WILMINGTON, MA — Catherine A. Campbell, age 72, of Wilmington, formerly of Wakefield, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 6, 2025.
Born in Lawrence on January 29, 1953, she was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas R. and Priscilla T. (Gallant) Campbell. Raised in Wakefield, Catherine was a proud graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1971. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to providing for her family, consistently putting their needs at the forefront of her efforts.
Catherine’s heart was truly devoted to her family. She enjoyed every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, whom affectionately called her “Gram.” Her joy for family trips and vacations created lasting memories, filled with laughter and adventure. Catherine had a special fondness for holidays, particularly the 4th of July and Christmas; even her Thanksgiving celebrations were legendary, often extending over two days.
She was the loving mother of Kristin M. Abusheery and her husband Michael of Billerica, Danielle A. Tucker and her husband Matthew of Wilmington, and Thomas J. Campbell and his wife Lindsey of Derry, NH. She was the sister of Thomas Campbell and his wife Leslie, Patricia Leavitt and her husband Robert, and Cindy McGrath and her husband Richard, all of Wakefield and the late Sharon Austin. She was the adoring grandmother to Jacob Tucker, Zachary Pomar, Maddie Tucker, Connor Sutton, Colton Campbell and Carson Campbell. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Service was held in McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday, December 13 at 11:30am. Visitation for relatives and friends was held prior to the service beginning at 9:30am.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Catherine may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
