Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — Dustin “Shayne” Hedges, age 54, of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2025.
Shayne was born on June 28, 1971, in Lubbock, TX. He was the son of Eddie Hedges and the late Dortha “Jan” (Holder) Tapley.
Shayne is survived by his loving daughters, Emma Diorio and Zoey Hedges, along with their mother, Sara (Diorio) all of Wilmington; his father Eddie Hedges & his wife Elaine of Lubbock, TX, and his stepfather Tim Tapley & his wife Susan of Richmond, TX.
Shayne was the dear brother of Ashlee Tapley and Bethany Moore & her husband Bill, and step-brother to Todd Tapley, uncle of Amanda Tapley, Timothy Tapley, Carter Blodgett, Dillon Blodgett, and James Moore.
Shayne loved music, especially The Beatles and Beastie Boys, and took pride in teaching himself to play guitar and a little bit of drums. Music was where he found happiness, peace, and escape.
He grew up playing baseball and his first love, basketball. Shayne had an obsession with college basketball and March Madness. His favorite movie was Fight Club and his favorite TV show was Seinfeld. Shayne had an uncanny ability to recite nearly every episode, line by line.
Jude, the family’s English bulldog, was his “best buddy” and brought him a lot of happiness and laughs. We hope they’re both enjoying some McDonald’s French fries together in Heaven. But most of all, Shayne loved his daughters, and he will be greatly missed by them.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Wednesday, December 10th from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 5:30 p.m.
Memorial donations in Shayne’s name may be made to The Mental Health Coalition. https://www.thementalhealthcoalition.org/donate/.
