Amy Iascone Named Interim Principal At North Intermediate School

WILMINGTON, MA — As last week’s Wilmington School Committee Meeting, Interim Superintendent David Thomson announced that Grade 5 Teacher and Assistant Principal Amy Iascone has been named as Interim Principal of the North Intermediate School for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year.

According to a letter sent to the school’s families and staff, Iascone has more than twenty years of experience in public education, including four years as Assistant Principal, in conjunction with her role as a Grade 5 Teacher and her service as the Elementary Science Lead Teacher.

“She has established strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and families, and is known for her collaborative approach, focus on maintaining a caring and supportive school culture, solution oriented mindset, and deep passion for her work,” wrote Thomson. “Ms. Iascone is committed to carrying on the school’s traditions while supporting student success and leading with integrity.”

Iascone, a longtime Wilmington resident, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, as well as a Master of Education in Elementary Education from the University of Massachusetts Boston. She also completed an Elementary Teacher Education Program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Thomson also thanked Director of Human Resources Andrea Stern Armstrong and the search committee for their work in the process.

Iascone is replacing Dr. Diane Carreiro, who left the district in early December for a position with the Lawrence Public Schools. Carreiro came to the North Intermediate in 2022, after serving as a principal for an elementary school in Middleton for 12 years.
