Below is an announcement from the Wilmington Department of Public Works:
The Department of Public Works Water Division will be working with Biszko Corporation to execute a cleaning and lining of the water main on Forest Street. Cleaning and lining of water mains is a proven, cost-effective solution to rehabilitate structurally sound cast iron water mains. It improves the water quality and increases the available water flow for firefighting because it creates a smoother pipeline interior.
The work consists of cleaning and cement mortar lining of approximately 4,200 linear feet of an 8-inch diameter cast iron water main from Aldrich Rd to Burlington Ave (Rt 62) along Forest Street. The project will also include additional system improvements along the project extents, such as the removal and replacement of hydrants, hydrant branches and valves, installation of water main to side streets, and the reinstatement of water services.
Mobilization will start in the spring of 2026. At that time, more information will be provided related to any traffic impacts or potential traffic detours.
