Below is an obituary from Shawsheen Funeral Home:
WILMINGTOn, MA — Dr. Guy Andrew McGarry, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on November 15, 2025 in Wilmington, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother John A. “Jack”, McGarry, and the love of his life, Marie, in 2017.
Born on November 3, 1932, in Woburn, Massachusetts to the late John and Media (Malatesta), Guy embraced the values of hard work and education throughout his life. He attended Boston College High School and continued his undergraduate studies at The College of the Holy Cross. Motivated by a desire to serve others and a strong interest in science and health, he earned his dental degree from Loyola School of Dentistry.
In 1956, Guy married his high school sweetheart, Marie (Tedesco). They lived in Chicago, IL for a short time while he finished dental school. Guy then spent time in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in New Jersey and Alabama prior to returning to Massachusetts and settling in Bedford. It is here where they raised their five children, made some of their greatest friends, and together ran a successful dental practice. For forty years, he cared for generations of patients with dedication and compassion. His skill and integrity earned him the respect of his peers and lasting trust within the community.
When he wasn’t working, Guy could often be found accompanying his girls to the horse stables, coaching the twins on the baseball field, or enjoying time on the golf course. Over the years, he built enduring friendships at the clubs he loved most, including Lexington Golf Club, Bass Rocks Golf Club in Gloucester, and Foxfire Country Club in Naples, FL. He also loved exploring new places with Marie and dear friends—St. Croix being a longtime favorite.
Most importantly, Guy and Marie cherished time spent with family—gatherings filled with laughter and love. Their home was always open to family and friends, filled with good food, warm hospitality, and even better company. They loved their summers on Long Beach in Rockport. It was there that they created many of their most treasured memories with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In retirement, they also loved spending their winters in Naples, FL, where they enjoyed the quiet rhythm of life together and welcomed family whenever they could visit.
Guy is survived by daughter Lynn Jarvis (Chris) of Chelmsford; daughter Mary Hartnett (Chris) of Andover; daughter Julie Lofria (Rick) of Pepperell; son Michael (Petra) of Walpole; and son Matthew (Meaghan) of Winchester. He was the absolute best Grampy and is already greatly missed by his 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Please join us for a celebration of his life on Sunday, December 14th from 12pm-4pm at Cafe Escadrille, 26 Cambridge St, Burlington, MA.
