Boston Metro Hi-Railers Holiday Open House Set For December 6 In Wilmington

Below is a press release from Wilmington-based The Boston Metro Hi-Railers:

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington’s Boston Metro Hi-Railers Train Club invites you and your family to an Open House on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 10am to 3pm.

Come see model trains run on its massive ‘Lionel’ O-gauge layout. In addition to the main layout, which has up to six trains running at once, two additional smaller kid-friendly layouts are set up just for this event, with lots of animated industries and visitor-controlled accessories to delight guests of all ages.

2025 is the 200th anniversary of the first railroads, and is also the 125th anniversary of Lionel, one of the oldest and largest manufacturers of model trains in the US, so it’s an extra special time to come visit the train club! Trains will be running all day, traveling up and down hills, over bridges, through tunnels, and past cities and stations representing actual northeast locales.

Admission to the Open House is free for anyone 10 and under and is just $5 for anyone 11 and older with a $10 max per family.

Doors open at 10am and close at the conclusion of a train-set raffle, scheduled to happen at 3pm.

The club is located on the second floor at 5 Waltham Street in Wilmington. Plenty of free parking is available and an elevator can take you to the second floor or you can use the stairs.

The Boston Metro Hi-Railers is a 501 C 3 Tax Exempt organization whose purpose is educational in nature and looks forward to continuing and expanding the mission to “promote and encourage participation in the model railroading hobby through educational, nonprofit and charitable activities with emphasis on preserving our nation’s railroading heritage through the maintenance, operation and demonstration of model railroading.”
