Dear Editor,
I’ve been a resident of Wilmington for 75 years. All the schools I attended except for one have been demolished. The only one left is the Buzzell School, Former Senior Center.
I just don’t understand why Wilmington has to destroy all Wilmington’s memories. The Buzzell School has so many great memories for the Seniors of Wilmington. We spent many years there making wonderful friendships. Yes, there were a few days when the heating system wasn’t working properly but if a building full of 70, 80 and 90 year olds could bear it then other organizations can too.
The renovations to the kitchen are beautiful. One big reason a new center was needed was space and privacy for personal meetings with residents in need.
It’s a beautiful building sitting up on a hill on School Street. Don’t destroy this building especially to put a parking lot in it’s place.
I can’t believe that the few people on the Select Board can make such a poor decision when so many of the towns people have shown their interest in keeping it active. Please go to the special town meeting on November 20th at 7:00 at the high school and let your voices be heard. I love my town and I’m tired of all these poor decisions. I’ve always had great faith in our Select Board but not so much lately.
Sincerely,
Janice Murray
