Below is an obituary from Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home:
BURLINGTON, MA — Susan Jean Long (69) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5th with her devoted family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Jeffrey Benrimo, with whom she had shared 14 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Boston on September 26, 1956, she was the middle child of nine to the late Frederick and Jean (Freeman) Long, survived by Susan Gallagher Long, Frederick’s second wife. Sue was raised in South Boston and graduated from Cardinal Cushing High School. From a young age, Sue loved fashion, being creative and mastering her seamstress skills. With a deeply rooted entrepreneurial spirit, Sue managed to turn her passion into her career by opening her own embroidery and alternations shop “Custom Stitch” in Wilmington. Sue also worked as a banquet waitress for the Marriott Long Wharf while continuing to run her business in order to provide for her children.
Sue always said being a mother, and later a grandmother, was her greatest achievement of all. Taking “mystery rides” was also one of her favorite past times that she started with her children, then carried on with her grandchildren. In her seldom free time, Sue jumped at any opportunity to go swimming. Her favorite spot was swimming laps around the lake at the Long Family cottage in Plymouth. Sue will always be remembered for her vibrant spirit, uplifting humor, and the abundance of love she spread to everyone.
Along with her dear husband Jeff, Sue is survived by her adoring children, Brian Binkoski and his girlfriend Amy of Plymouth, Brendan Binkoski and his wife Katherine of South Boston, and Tara Pawlak and her husband Erik of Connecticut; her cherished grandchildren, Jaxson Pawlak, Savannah Pawlak, Lucy Binkoski, Baylor Pawlak, Grace Binkoski, and Ada Sue Binkoski; her beloved siblings, Stephen (Elaine), Dianne Paskievich (George), Timothy (Sheila), Daniel (Mary Lynn), Mary Ellen Neary (Russ), Christopher, Sean (Annmarie). Also survived by her siblings-in-law, Martin (Biviana) Benrimo, and Thomas Benrimo, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, outlaws (Sue’s term), and friends. Sue was a loving sister to the late David Long and his wife Barbara.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, November 12th from 4 pm until 7 pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 13th at 10am at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington. Burial will immediately follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Sue’s honor may be made to either the Mass General Hospital ALS Healy Clinic, Care Dimensions Hospice, or the CCALS Foundation in Falmouth.
