OBITUARY: Jacob E. Fitch, 38

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Jacob E. Fitch, affectionately known as “Jake,” age 38, of Wilmington, MA, passed away unexpectedly at home on October 12, 2025.

Born in Winchester, MA, on September 21, 1987, Jake was the cherished son of John and Rosalie (Estrella) Fitch. He was raised in Wilmington and graduated from Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in 2006.

From a young age, Jake was drawn to the outdoors and had a deep appreciation for nature. He loved camping, four-wheeling, and riding dirt bikes — anything that brought him outside and into the world. Jake had a natural talent for mechanics and could fix just about anything. He had a particular passion for trucks and racing cars, always eager to build, tinker, and improve them.

Following high school, Jake worked as a Union Carpenter, a career he was proud of until a stroke at age 27 changed the course of his life. Even after losing his voice due to the stroke, Jake never lost his vibrant spirit — he found other ways to communicate, always sharing his bright smile that could light up any room.

Jake had a tender heart and a soft spot for animals, especially dogs. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted dad to his beloved son Lucas, a loving son and brother, and a loyal friend to many. Jake was a true social butterfly — always on the move, always helping others, always connecting.

Jake leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and love. He will be forever missed by his parents, John and Rose Fitch of Wilmington; his son, Lucas Fitch; his brothers, Joshua Fitch and Justin Fitch; his niece and nephew, Nora and JJ Fitch; and Lucas’s mother, Jessica Kloufts, with whom he shared a special bond. Jake is also survived by a large and loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends.

“Jake, nothing will ever be the same without you; until we meet again.”
All our love, Mom, Dad, Lucas, Joshua, and Justin.

Visiting hours will be held at Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Sunday, October 19th from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m., followed by a concluding Prayer Service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jake’s memory may be made to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844 — a cause close to his heart.
