WILMINGTON, MA — Michael J. Corrigan (Mike), age 83 of Wilmington, MA passed away, due to the complications of Alzheimer’s, on October 8, 2025 at Care One Nursing Home in Beverly, MA.
Mike was born in Hyannis, MA on July 12, 1942, the oldest son of Thomas and Mary Corrigan.
Mike grew up on Cape Cod, one of eleven children.
He is survived by his sister Margaret Moore and her husband Stuart of Maine, sister Marjorie Montague and her husband William of Holden, Ma., sister Mary Agnew and husband David of Harwich, Ma, sister Anne Corrigan of Harwich, Ma, brother Kevin Corrigan and wife Gayle who reside in Argentina and brother Paul Corrigan and wife Lois of S. Carolina.
Sadly Mike was predeceased by additional siblings. Brother Thomas Corrigan, wife Kathy of Wisconsin, brother Daniel Corrigan, wife Amy of Harwich, Ma. Brother Earl Corrigan of Harwich, Ma and brother James Corrigan, husband Thomas of San Francisco, CA.
Collectively the siblings produced 34 lovely nieces and nephews.
After graduating from technical high school on the Cape Mike enlisted in the Navy serving on the aircraft carrier, the Kersage. After his service he joined Raytheon to work for the company in Southern Italy. After a couple of years he transferred to the UK working for the same company.
Mike met Helen Mayes while renting a house in the village where she was born and raised.
Mike is survived by Helen, his wife of 56 years, his son Crias and wife Shawn and son Kern and wife Dorothy, also “Pop” to granddaughters Hope Rauda and Riley Corrigan; daughters of Shawn and Crias.
On returning to the USA Mike attended Northeastern University taking classes full time as well as continuing to work for Raytheon full time. He graduated with a BA in Electrical Engineering and a MA in Computer Sciences.
Mike’s dream was to become his own boss so in 1978 he made the leap to become an engineering consultant. Mike was a successful and well respected business man with repeated requests for his services from his business clients.
Growing up on the Cape gave Mike a great love of the sea. In his teen years he worked on a fishing boat and many years later he went on a lengthy sailing adventure with his cousin Lille.
Mike loved fishing, bow hunting, birds, trees, poker, travelling and dancing, the Corrigan kind.
Mike spent years growing chestnut trees from the nuts gathered in PA on his hunting trips. He was successful, we do have a few fruit bearing chestnut trees, but the deer enjoyed many of Mike’s efforts.
Family and friends are welcome to gather for a Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Friday October 17th from 10:30 – 12:00 followed by a brief service at 12:00 and luncheon to follow.
