Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Scott A. Dunnett, age 37, of Tewksbury, formerly of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly on September 12th, 2025. Scott was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend to many.

Scott was born on September 18th, 1987 in Winchester, MA the beloved son of Lorens “Butch” Dunnett and Sharon (Hill) Dunnett. Scott was raised in Wilmington as part of a large tight knit family. As a kid Scott loved being involved in outdoor activities, especially if they involved 2 wheels. He could always be found on a bicycle or dirt bike riding the neighborhoods and trails of Wilmington.

Scott began his love of hockey as a kid, a love that continued throughout his life. Scott played throughout his school years and as an adult in a pickup men’s league. His love of hockey also extended to coaching, where he was an ever present sight on the bench of his children’s hockey teams. While playing hockey Scott wore number 22, a number that he shared with his wife Rebecca. 22 became a symbol of their love and their family.

Scott graduated from Wilmington High School with the class of 2006, always remaining a proud Wildcat. He even holds the distinction of being named Prom King twice. After high school he continued his education earning an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 2009.

Scott met and began dating the love of his life Rebecca, in 2008. The two married in 2013 and, after initially living in North Reading, moved to Tewksbury where they settled and raised their three children. Scott was Rebecca’s “person” who she adored and loved with all her heart and admired for his strength. They enjoyed many years together, being with friends and family, and watching their children grow. Scott’s favorite role in life was as that of Dad to his three beautiful children Kenzie, Avery, and Zak. He was always so proud of them and their accomplishments. Rebecca and the kids will always remember Scott as being their hero and the foundation on which their family was built upon.

Scott was a proud American who felt a strong sense of service which led him to joining the United States Army Reserve where he served honorably until 2017. During his time in the Army Scott attained the rank of Sgt and was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2013-2014. Scott was very proud of his service and his brothers and sisters in arms.

After college Scott embarked on a career in Law Enforcement. Scott was a graduate of the Lowell Police Academy Class of 2012. He began his law enforcement career with the Merrimack College Police Dept. before receiving an appointment as a Patrol Officer with the Wilmington Police Dept. in 2014. In his role as a police officer Scott brought a sense of calmness and ease to those he served and served with. In 2023 Scott decided to embark on a new chapter of his career by accepting a job with the Wilmington Dept. of Public Works as an Arborist, a position he held until his passing. Many will remember seeing Scott working with his tree crew, a big smile on his face and a thumbs up or wave to all he knew. Scott was a gentle giant with a big heart who was a friend to all he met and his presence will be deeply missed.

Scott was the beloved husband of Rebecca (MacDonald) Dunnett and loving father to MaKenzie “Kenzie”, Avery and Zachary “Zak” Dunnett of Tewksbury. He was the cherished son of Butch and Sharon (Hill) Dunnett of Wilmington. He was the loving brother of Samantha and Steven Dunnett; maternal grandson of Annmarie Hill; Great nephew of Edward and Mary Ciccarelli; nephew of Sandra and Christopher Sartori Sr., George and Laurie Dunnett, Donna and Brent Wells, and James Dunnett; cousin of Christine Stephenson, Shelia Dunnett, Daniel Creekmore, Amanda Meservey, Shannon Metcalfe, Kody Dunnett, Christopher Sartori Jr., Thomas Dunnett, Angela Sartori, and Emily Sartori.
