WILMINGTON, MA — Lorraine P. Dineen (Finlay), a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away peacefully at home on September 7, 2025, with her family at her side.
Lorraine was born in Somerville, MA, on October 22, 1953; she was the dear daughter of the late Kenneth G. and Mary F. (Milone) Finlay. Lorraine was raised in Wilmington where she made many life-long friends; she attended Wilmington Public Schools and was a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1971. Lorraine went on to continue her education earning a bachelor’s degree in education from Salem State College.
On August 15, 1976, Lorraine married “her sweetheart” Bill Dineen; the couple made their home in Wilmington where they raised two wonderful children, Billy and Lisa. Lorraine’s family was her world, and she treasured the time she spent with her husband, children and grandchildren. Lorraine looked forward to holidays, family gatherings, vacations, and road trips to Florida to visit with her parents, sisters and their families.
Lorraine spent most of her career working as an accountant, stopping briefly for a few years to focus on being Mom to her two children. She served for over 20 years as the Assistant Treasurer for the Town of Wilmington. She took special pride in guiding Town employees through their benefits and supporting them as they transitioned into retirement.
Lorraine will be fondly remembered for her unconditional love and devotion to her family and friends; she will forever live on in their hearts. Treasured memories include annual treks for the perfect Christmas tree, visits to Canobie Lake Park with the grandchildren, and weekly movie nights at home.
Lorraine was the beloved wife of Bill Dineen, devoted mother of William Dineen and his wife Rebecca of Litchfield, NH and Lisa Zollner and her husband Christopher of Wilmington, MA. Loving “Nana” of Brayden, Andrew, Liam, and Eva, whom she adored. Dear sister of Joyce McDuff of St. Cloud, FL, Lois Freeland of Estero, FL, Valerie Mercurio and her husband George of Naples, FL, and the late Stephen Finlay. Sister-in-law of Ellen and Kirk Stanford of Manchester, NH and Timothy Dineen of Somerville, MA. Lorraine is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family and friends are welcome to attend Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Saturday, September 13th from 10:30-11:30 a.m. followed by a Service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.
