OBITUARY: William H. Hill, 68

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — William H. Hill, “Billy”, age 68, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 14, 2025.

Billy was born in Tewksbury, MA, on July 25, 1956; he was the cherished son of the late Leonard and Joan (Laken) Hill. Billy was one of six siblings that were raised and educated in Wilmington. In his early years, Billy hung out at Silver Lake where he would go fishing, swimming, and skating and where he made many life-long friends.

Billy was a hard worker throughout his life; he started Hill Fence Company more than 35 years ago. Billy had a great personality; he employed many family members and local townspeople throughout his career and was very good to his customers.

In his spare time, he loved to take in a good concert, especially if it was the Allman Brothers who were his all-time favorite band. He also enjoyed heading out to the horse races at Saratoga or Suffolk Downs where he raced his own horse Looney Boone who brought him luck and landed him in the winner’s circle.

Billy was a strong swimmer who loved to swim the Atlantic Ocean at Hermit Island in Phippsburg, Maine and he was the best dancer with no rhythm at all when William, Mr. Hill would hit the dance floor to his own version of the Curly Shuffle.

Billy also enjoyed fishing for Tuna on his boat the Michael J with his brother Chippy in Phippsburg Maine. They weren’t always successful but enjoyed the hunt and the time spent together.

Billy loved to follow sports, especially football, and was an avid New York Giants fan. Billy, along with family and friends, headed to Florida in 1989 to take in the Giants versus Buffalo Super Bowl, needless to say they all had the time of their lives and talked about the game for many years.

Billy had some great times throughout his life, but nothing compared to the time he spent with his family, especially his children. Billy loved to take them out on the boat, take them searching for hermit crabs, or snorkeling in the cold Atlantic. Billy, along with his kids headed to New York City to visit the Big Apple and see the Twin Towers and then to go upstate to watch the Giants play. He loved being a dad and making some great memories with Keith and Stacey, who he adored. Billy was also proud to be a Grampy to his six grandchildren.

Billy will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor; he loved a good joke, a good prank, or just to make people laugh. He was very kind towards others and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Billy had an unconditional love towards his family and friends; he will forever be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Billy was the devoted father of Keith Hill and his wife Haley of Alton, NH and Stacey Hill and her companion Robert L’Heureux of Rochester, NH. Loving “Grampy” of Sedona, Scarlet, Arlo, Arthur, Miles, and Ryker. Dear brother of Leonard “Chippy” Hill of Woolwich, ME, Terry Russo and her late husband John of Wilmington, MA, and Palm Harbor, FL, Veronica “Ronnie” Hill of Wilmington, MA, Lynn Hill Pellegrino of Auburn, NH, and the late Paul “Butchie” Hill. Billy is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Monday, July 21st from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 22nd at 11:30 a.m. followed by interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Billy’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
