OBITUARY: Barbara M. Williams, 88

Below is an obituary from Carafa Family Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Barbara M. Williams, age 88 of Wilmington MA, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, on July 2, 2025. Born on April 30, 1937, in Chelsea MA, Barbara lived a vibrant and fulfilling life marked by love, strength, and the importance of family. Predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years, Robert D. Williams.

She was the daughter of the late John N. and Marion (Perry) King. Beloved sister of John N. King Jr. and his late wife Patricia, the late Herbert King and his late wife Ella, and the late Bertha (Sis) Watson and her late husband Herbert.

Barbara is survived by her only son Michael R. Williams and his wife Betty. Barbara will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren Amanda and her husband Evan Hayes and Nicholas (Nick) Williams. She was the beloved Great Grandmother (GiGi) of Brayden, Callie and Aubrey Hayes, whom she loved to the moon and back, they were her world. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.

Barbara attended Chelsea public school and graduated from Chelsea High in 1955. Barbara retired from the law firm Ropes and Gray, where she was employed as a bookkeeper.

She enjoyed her many trips with her husband Bob. They loved to drive to Vermont and stay in B&Bs and spend the days antiquing. They went to Bermuda several times as well. They lived in Florida for a short time, until her first grandchild was born, and Barbara couldn’t wait to move back to be a grandmother.

Barbara loved to spend time with her sister Beth, and they loved to take trips and would play scrabble and giggle endlessly for hours. She was an avid crossword and sudoku master.

She was lucky to live in a 4-generation household, who included her great-grandchildren in which she earned the title of GIGI. She enjoyed them coming over to her apartment and visiting every day. She had special time with each of her great grandchildren. She especially enjoyed her wine/juice time with her eldest great grandson Brayden at 4 o’clock every day.

She lived a full life, and no words can express how much she will be missed.
