OBITUARY: Albert M. Miano, 93

On June 21, 2025, Albert M. Miano of Tewksbury, MA, age 93, formerly of Wilmington and East Boston.

Born to Albert L. and Elizabeth (Benson) Miano, he lived his early years in East Boston. A veteran of the Korean War, he bravely served with the 14th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. Upon his return, he met and married his wife, Mary, and they settled in Wilmington, MA where they raised their daughter, Pamela, among family and friends. After his retirement, Albert landed his favorite job of all which was babysitter to his three beloved grandsons. Known to most as “Papa”, he was a fixture at every important and routine event in their lives.

Albert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary (D’Addio) Miano of Tewksbury, MA, daughter Pamela and her husband David Nolan, and grandchildren Daniel, Benjamin, and Tyler Nolan of Chelmsford, MA. Dear brother of Richard Miano and his wife Josephine of Wilmington, MA and the late Theresa and Anthony Galante, Rita and Emilio Grasso, Marie and Joseph Giordano and niece Paula. Brother-in-law of Domenic D’Addio of Portsmouth, RI. Uncle of Sandy and Stephen, Joe and Darlene, Jimmy and Karen, Diane and Tony, Nancy and Vin, Beth and Jim, and their children and grandchildren. Honorary member of the extended Nolan family.

The family would like to thank the amazing doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital who, in 2015, saved his life against all odds, gifting him with ten more wonderful years, the Massachusetts VA Healthcare System who provided amazing care throughout his life, and the kindness and compassion of the doctors, nurses and staff at Lowell General Hospital and Sawtelle Family Hospice House who saw him through his final days with comfort, peace and dignity.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:30 a.m. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO CHURCH. Burial will be private at a later date.
