OBITUARY: Madeline Y. (Gagnon) Bimbo, 90

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Madeline Y. Bimbo (Gagnon), age 90, a long-time Wilmington resident, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Madeline was born on June 9, 1935, in Wilmington, MA; she was the dear daughter of the late Leon and Anna (Beauchesne) Gagnon.  Madeline was one of eleven siblings that were raised in the family homestead on Lake Street in Wilmington; she attended Wilmington Schools where she made many friends throughout her early years.

In 1953, Madeline married her “sweetheart” James Bimbo; the couple moved to Somerville where they started their family and resided for about sixteen years.  Madeline and Jim moved back to Wilmington in 1969 to be closer to family.  Madeline and Jim were married for over 37 years, and they shared many wonderful times together with family and friends before his untimely passing in 1990.

Madeline was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and “MeeMee” to her grandchildren; throughout the years she enjoyed entertaining and having her family all around for holidays and special occasions.  Madeline also looked forward to the time she spent with her grandchildren whom she adored.

Prior to retiring, Madeline worked for the Wilmington Public Schools in the kitchen; she was a favorite “lunch lady” who was always so generous and pleasant to the kids.  Madeline made many wonderful friends with her co-workers, and they got together outside of work as often as they could.  Madeline looked forward to their Friday Lunches or breakfasts at As Good As It Gets with the ladies; they were a tight-knit group of friends for many years.

In her spare time, Madeline stayed very active. She loved to go to bingo, she belonged to a bowling league, she loved to line dance, she was active at the Wilmington Senior Center, and she loved to head to a casino on occasion just to try her luck.  Madeline loved to travel where she could see new places and meet new people.  She looked forward to traveling with the Wilmington Rec. Department on their many trips all over the country.

Madeline was a woman of great faith and an active parishioner at St. Dorothy’s Church in Wilmington for many years.  Madeline never missed her weekly masses, and she enjoyed being a member of the Ladies Sodality where she would volunteer her time and talents whenever she could.

Madeline was a very Patriotic person, and she was a member of a Gold Star family having lost her brother Antonio during the Korean War.  Madeline attended many Veteran’s events, and she never missed a Memorial Day Parade, Veterans Day event, or a cemetery service to honor the men and woman of our armed forced.

Madeline will be fondly remembered as a beautiful lady inside and out; she had a kind word for everyone and always greeted them with a big, beautiful smile.  Madeline was very thoughtful and would help anyone every chance she got.  She loved her family and friends unconditionally and she will forever be missed by all who knew her.

Madeline was the beloved wife of the late James F. Bimbo, devoted mother of Mary Ann Villeneuve and her late husband Ronald of Tewksbury, Annette Karl and her husband Warren of Methuen, James A. Bimbo of Wilmington, and Lorraine Gervais and her husband Marc of South Berwick, ME.  Loving “MeeMee” of Marina Villeneuve, Josef Villeneuve, Michael Karl, Patrick Karl, Noelle Karl, Brett Gervais, Kyle Gervais, Jimmy Bimbo, and great-grandson Archie Milette.  Dear sister of Arthur Gagnon of Sun City, FL, Claire Sullivan of Lowell, the late Theresa English, Yvonne Love, Antonio Gagnon, George Gagnon, Paul Gagnon, Albert Gagnon, Willie Gagnon, and Bob Gagnon.   Sister-in-law of Nancy Gagnon of New Hampshire, Cathy Gagnon of Tewksbury, and Nancy Gagnon of Arizona.  Madeline is further survived by many special nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Friday, June 20th from 8:30-10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rte. 38), Wilmington, MA, at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.
