LOUISVILLE, KY — Catherine Mary “Jackie” Lee, SCN, 88 (formerly Sister Mary Siena) was born August 20, 1936, in Dorchester, Mass., to George Francis Lee and Mary Ellen (Bowler) Lee. She was one of nine children. She died on May 25, 2025, in Louisville, Ky. She was a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 67 years.
Sister Jackie earned a bachelor’s degree in Education from Spalding College in Louisville, Ky., and masters’ degrees in Reading and Pastoral Ministry from Boston College.
She began serving in educational ministry after making her first vows. She taught primary grades at St. Cecilia in Louisville; St. Edward in Brockton, Mass.; Our Lady of Nazareth in Roanoke, Va.; St. Patrick in Brockton; Most Precious Blood in Hyde Park, Mass; and St. Margaret in Hyde Park, Mass.
From 1975 – 1986, Sister Jackie served as principal at St. Joseph in Wakefield, Mass. She later served as vice-principal at Charlestown Catholic, Charlestown, Mass. From 1996-2010, she was principal of St. Ann School in Wollaston, Mass.
Sister Jackie also served in pastoral ministry at St. Ann Parish in Shrewsbury, Mass; St. Thomas of Villanova in Wilmington, Mass; and St. Susanna’s Church in Dedham, Mass.
Before retiring to Nazareth, Ky., in 2020, she served as liturgical coordinator, volunteer, and tutor at St. Ann Parish in Quincy, Mass.
Sister Jackie is survived by her large extended family, friends, and religious community, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth.
Sister Jackie’s arrangements were as follows: her visitation and wake took place on Wednesday, the 28th of May, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, the 29th, all held at St. Vincent dePaul Church at Nazareth and she was buried in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
