OBITUARY: Beverly A. (Desrochers) Berrigan, 86

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Beverly Ann Berrigan (Desrochers), “Bev”, age 86, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington following a brief illness.

Beverly was born on November 7, 1938, in Berlin, NH; she was the only child of the late William E. and Mabel L. (Sumner) Desrochers. In 1943 they moved to Newport News, Virginia, where her father’s brother was in the military and got her parents’ jobs in the shipyard. Her mother put the rivets in the P.T. Boats; she was the real Rosie the Riveter. Her father was a carpenter and millwright. The family moved back to Berlin, New Hampshire, in the summer of 1945.

In 1948 they moved to Schenectady, New York; Beverly went to Saint Joseph’s Academy and graduated with the Class of 1957. With her father’s passing in 1956, Bev and her mother finally moved to Boston in 1960 to be closer to family.

Bev went to work at Andrew Dutton Company on Canal Street in Boston where she was a bookkeeper. While at Andrew Dutton’s she met the love of her life Kevin Berrigan. They married at Saint Joseph’s Church in the West End of Boston on September 19, 1964.

Bev and Kevin lived in Somerville for two years before moving to Wilmington where they lived in Kevin’s childhood home and raised their family.

Bev worked at Altron in Wilmington for 20 years; retiring in 2002. She then worked at Leduc’s Card and Gift Shop for four years and ten years at the Paper Store in Reading where she made many friends.

Kevin and Bev loved to go to Saratoga Racetrack as well as Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.

Bev also loved reading books about World War II, crocheting lap robes for Veterans and prayer shawls.

Bev is predeceased by her husband Kevin and her parents William and Mabel. She leaves behind her son Lawrence “Larry” Berrigan and his wife Karen of Westford and her daughter Sandra “Sandy” Fallica and her husband Mark of Acton. Bev was “Meme” to six grandchildren Molly Berrigan, John Berrigan, Valerie Fallica, Joseph Fallica, Claire Fallica, and Grace Fallica; there is nothing she wouldn’t do for them.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Beverly’s memory to Local Heroes Inc., P. O. Box 536, Wilmington, MA 01887.
