OBITUARY: Beverly R. (Whitford) Finigian, 85

WILMINGTON, MA — Beverly R. (Whitford) Finigian, age 85, of Wilmington, formerly a long-time resident of North Reading, passed away peacefully at home on May 26, 2025, surrounded by family.

Beverly was born in Melrose, MA, on May 4, 1940; she was the cherished only child to the late Alton W. and M. Pauline (Knox) Whitford. Beverly was raised and educated in Melrose and a graduate of Melrose High School with the Class of 1957. She went on to continue her education at Mount Ida College in Newton where she earned an associate’s degree.

Following graduation, Beverly went to work as a secretary and receptionist in the Registrar’s office at MIT University in Cambridge where she worked for several years. Beverly was very bright and an amazing typist; she continued to hone her skills and take courses at Northeastern University in Boston throughout her career. Beverly also worked for many years as a translator and typist for a Translation Company and also as a Medical Translator.

Beverly married her beloved husband David Finigian on December 31, 1963; the couple moved to North Reading in 1967 where they raised two wonderful daughters and shared more than 40 years of marriage before David’s passing in 2004. Beverly was a devoted mom who was active with her girls as a Brownie and Girl Scout Troop Leader with Troop 303 for five years and was a Pop Warner Cheer Advisor for North Reading Pop Warner.

In her spare time, Beverly enjoyed spending time with her family; she liked the beach and had a fondness for light houses, and she spent weekend days with her husband on their boat at the dock. Beverly was an avid reader throughout most of her life; she belonged to several book clubs and loved to collect books of all kinds. She had an amazing talent to play the piano by ear and enjoyed all kinds of music. In her later years, Beverly enjoyed relaxing and watching her favorite television shows.

Beverly is survived by her beloved daughters Lisa Neukuckatz and her husband Hans Neukuckatz of North Reading, and Wanda Finigian McLaren and her husband Thomas McLaren of Wilmington. She was the loving Grandma of Amanda Powell, Ian Neukuckatz, Paulina Wilson and her husband Sutton Wilson, Aaron “AJ” Neukuckatz, David McLaren, Leila McLaren, and great-grandchildren Ashley Descoteaux, Alexandria Powell and Colton Wilson.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Saturday, June 14th from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. followed by a Service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, North Reading, MA.
