LIBRARY NEWS: Wilmington Library To Hold 14 Events Next Week, Including Community Chalk Art with ZNT Arts On June 7

Below is a list of upcoming events from the Wilmington Memorial Library:

Library Closure
Wilmington Memorial Library will be closed Friday, June 6th from 9am-1pm for staff training. The library will be open at 1pm, until closing at 5pm.

These nighttime sessions are perfect for anyone who does any kind of needle craft but can’t make it to Needleworkers during the day! Drop-in.

Slice and Dice: A Pizza and Table Top Game Night
Tuesday, June 3, 6-8pm
Join Librarians Mary and Marie for Slice & Dice, our monthly pizza and table top game night for adults. Each month, we’ll kick off with a featured game, followed by open play where you can explore our game library or bring your own favorites to share with the group!

Fiction Critique Group (Virtual)
Saturday, June 7, 9:15am
Love writing fiction? Whether you are drafting a short story or a novel, joining our Critique Group is a great opportunity to meet other writers and get constructive feedback.

Book Store Next Door Readathon
Monday, June 2- Saturday, June 7, All Day
Join Wilmington Memorial Library’s first ever Readathon! Read all week long, log pledges on Beanstack (or on paper logs) to support the Book Store Next Door. All Ages.

Teen Book Boxes: Level Up at Your Library
Monday, June 2, All Day
Starting June 2nd, register to receive a June book box! Then on June 30th, come to the library to pick up your box. This month’s theme (and our Summer Reading theme) is Level Up at Your Library! Grades 6-12

Wilmington Community Playgroup
Monday, June 2, 10am
Join the Community Teamwork Family Resource Network for a community playgroup where they’ll work on Early Literacy skills and much more! Ages 0-6, siblings welcome

Preschool Storytime
Tuesday, June 3, 10am
Join us at Preschool Storytime! This program includes books, rhymes, music and movement for children ages 3-6! Ages 3-6

Mindful Movement
Tuesday, June 3, 4pm
Join library pals as we flow through children’s yoga poses, mindful movements, and read some books to help us grow in mindfulness and peace. Grades K-2

Time for Twos
Wednesday, June 4, 10am
Time for Twos includes books, rhymes, music and movement for children aged 2! Age 2

Baby Time
Thursday, June 5, 10am
Join us at our Baby Time! This program includes books, rhymes, music and movement. Ages 0-23 months

LEGO Building
Friday, June 6, 3:45pm
Build with LEGOs at the same time as other LEGO fans and display what you make in the library! Grades K-5

Community Chalk Art with ZNT Arts
Saturday, June 7, 10-11:30am
Community Chalk Art invites community members of all ages to add to a chalk mural that represents the uniqueness of their greater community. Come enjoy some creative time outside on the front walkway of the library and in the Peggy Kane Reading garden. We’ll also have an ice cream truck present! All Ages

BSND Readathon Fest
Saturday, June 7, 2-4pm
Celebrate the end of our first ever Readathon on June 7th with snacks, book sales, music, and activities for all ages on the library’s front lawn! All Ages

Notice Anything New in Our Children’s Room?
As part of our Playful Pathways programming, we’ve added a ton of fun things to the play area, like a kitchen, pop-up food truck, market and more! These fun toys are part of our Food & Nutrition Unit and will only be here for a limited time, so stop by the library soon to check them out.

Check Out Our Library of Things This Summer
Did you know Wilmington Memorial Library circulates more than just books? Check out our Adult, Teen and Youth Library of Things for fun and useful items to use this summer. Book Store Next Door
Regular hours are back at The Book Store Next Door! The bookstore is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am-4pm.
