WILMINGTON, MA — Richard M. Atkinson of Wilmington Massachusetts sadly left us May 16, 2025, from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) at the age of 61.
Richard was born June 4, 1963, and raised in Medford, MA, by his loving parents, Edward and Carole Atkinson. Graduated from Medford Vocational Technical High School in 1981. He was employed for 37 years at TMC Manufacturing Corporation/Ametek Inc. as a sheet metal mechanic supervisor, then pursued a career as a Home Inspector and became licensed in MA and NH in 2022.
Married to Joanne Atkinson (Fougere) for 37 years. Brother-in-law to Richard and Susan Fougere of Arlington MA; Maryellen Beasley (deceased August 2023); Claudia and Richard DeSantis of Reading MA; Ken and Stephanie Fougere of Quincy MA; Peg and Bob Moran of Myrtle Beach SC and Billy Fougere of Salem NH.
Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, hiking, long motorcycle rides and most of all sitting by a fire with family and friends, listening to music and telling fun stories.
Visitation will be held at Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Friday May 23, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Raphael’s Parish, 512 High St., Medford, MA, at 12:00 noon. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford, MA.
