Wilmington High School Students Invited To Participate In Public Health Museum’s “Exploring Public Health” Seminar On June 27

Below is a press release from Public Health Museum:

TEWKSBURY, MA — Registration is now open for Exploring Public Health: Careers, Colleges, and Connections, a free summer public health program for high school students held on Friday, June 27, 2025 at the Public Health Museum in Tewksbury. The popular student Outbreak! program has been reimagined as a one-day power-packed immersion into the world of public health. Students will learn the history of public health, hear from professionals in the field, meet undergraduate college representatives, and talk to alums of the program who have chosen public health career paths.

Students will explore topics such as occupational health nursing, emergency response, mental health, epidemiology and more. Students will also participate in an outbreak investigation and prepare for a Zombie Apocalypse situation.

The schedule also offers a live Q&A with public health professional and a panel of college representatives from public health programs in the area.

Students will work with alumni peer mentors who have gone on to pursue college and careers in public health.

“The role of public health in our world has never been more important” said Dr. Alfred DeMaria, board member of the Public Health Museum and the former Massachusetts state epidemiologist. “We look forward to welcoming the next generation of public health professionals.”

An additional virtual component will occur in the fall through a series of online programs that students can attend or watch later! The C3 program is open to all high school students free of charge, but registration is required.
