OBITUARY: Beverly A. (Witham) Downs, 66

WILMINGTON, MA — Beverly A. (Witham) Downs, age 66, of Lowell, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, at the Lowell General Hospital.

Bev was born in Woburn, MA, on August 8, 1958; she was the dear daughter of the late Stanley and Helen (Smith) Witham. Bev was raised and educated in Wilmington and a graduate of Wilmington High School. Bev lost her parents as a teenager which led her to become very independent at a very young age.

Bev went on to get her certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked for several healthcare facilities throughout the years. Bev was so gentle and kind towards her patients as well as their families.

Bev married her “sweetheart” Wilfred “Bill” Downs Sr. in Lowell Ma. ; the couple raised a wonderful family and shared many great times together. Bev’s family was “her world” and she would do anything for her children and grandchildren. Bev enjoyed having her family all around her; she was so proud of all of their accomplishments and always encouraged them to do their best. Bev looked forward to family weekends and vacations traveling through Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. She loved to head to the beach and enjoy tanning in the sun or take many long rides up the coast with her family talking and laughing all the way.

Bev’s role as “Mimi” to her grandchildren was one of her favorites; she treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren they were the light of her life.

Bev will be remembered as a wonderful lady, so kind and caring towards everyone she met. She loved her family and friends with all her heart, and she will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Bev is the beloved wife of Wilfred “Bill” Downs Sr. , devoted mother of Tina Allen and Michael Downs both of Leominster, Patrick Downs and his wife Stephanie, Sotheara El and his fiance Jenny Bo and Courtney Ty and her husband David all of Lowell, Timothy Downs and his girlfriend Marissa LaPointe of Dracut, and Wilfred Downs Jr. of Fitchburg. Bev was very special to Sarah Rosado who considered her a second mom. Loving “Mimi” of Natasha, Devin, Mason, Matthew, Brandon, Lylah, Kynley, Cailyn, Elias, Lily, Gavin, Rylee, Jaxen, Lani, and Carter. Dear sister of Janet Hawes of Oregon, the late Stanley Witham, Jr., the late Eugene “Gene” Witham, the late Dale Kleynan, and the late Tracy Witham and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Tuesday, May 6th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. followed by a time of sharing at 7:00 p.m.
