LETTER: Wilmington Commission On Disabilities Asks Residents To Support Article #30 At May 3 Town Meeting

Dear Editor,

The Wilmington Commission on Disabilities is asking for your support for Warrant Article #30 to be adopted at the Town Meeting on May 3rd, 2025.  The purpose of this article is to name a conference room in the new Wilmington Town Hall for Doctor Phyllis “Dee” Gennetti.

Dr. Gennetti was a key member and chairperson for the Wilmington Commission on Disabilities for over 35 years, prior to her passing in May, 2024.  A trauma survivor herself, Dr. “Dee” was a tireless advocate in Wilmington for people with disabilities.  She was the author of multiple articles and two books on traumatic brain injury.  She worked to promote civil rights and self-determination for people with disabilities while insuring compliance with laws on disabilities.  In addition, she hosted a WCTV show called “Access Abilities”.

Please help us honor her memory with this token of gratitude and recognition for her service to the town of Wilmington.

Respectfully submitted,

Wilmington Commission on Disabilities
