To the Editor:
As a resident, Wilmington Finance Committee member, and someone who cares about the future of our town, I’m writing to share my personal endorsement of Jacob Gearwar for Wilmington Select Board.
I’ve known Jake for 25 years—since our time together at Bentley College—and I’ve had the opportunity to see firsthand the kind of thoughtful, principled, and data-driven person he is. Both of us have spent our careers in finance, and I’ve always admired Jake’s ability to approach complex challenges with clarity, analysis, and sound judgment.
Jake is not a politician—he’s a committed member of our community, a fellow girl dad, and someone who genuinely wants to serve Wilmington in a meaningful way. I’ve been especially impressed by his leadership as Chair of the Economic Development Committee, where he’s working to bring new commercial development to town and reduce the tax burden on residents. His priorities—supporting our schools and teachers, advocating for senior housing, and standing behind our veterans and first responders—reflect a well-rounded understanding of what our town needs. I believe Jacob’s professional financial background, combined with his experience in appointed town positions, will bring real value to the Select Board and to all of us in Wilmington.
Please join me in voting for Jacob Gearwar for Select Board on Saturday, April 26.
Disclaimer: While I serve on the Wilmington Finance Committee, this letter reflects my personal views as a resident and parent—not the opinion of the committee.
Sincerely,
Anthony Nelson
