Fellow Residents, Friends, and Neighbors,
I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported me during this campaign for Select Board. Your actions — from placing a sign in your yard to standing with my family and me in all kinds of weather to hold signs on weekends — and your kind words mean the world to me.
As we approach Election Day on Saturday, April 26, I encourage all residents to get out and vote.
People often ask me why I’m running. The answer is simple: fiscal responsibility, support for our youth, and care for our seniors.
If elected, I’ll work hard to ensure Wilmington continues to be a town that values its residents and spends taxpayer dollars responsibly. Our youth are the future and deserve the best schools, youth sports, extracurricular programs, and a safe community, which we are fortunate to have thanks to our excellent fire and police departments.
At the same time, we must not forget our seniors — the people who helped shape the community we know and love. Wilmington continues to grow, but we’ve managed to hold on to that small-town feel, and that’s thanks in large part to the generations who came before us.
There’s been a lot of talk this campaign season about senior housing, and I agree — it’s a priority. In the years ahead, we may have opportunities to explore locations and ideas to make it a reality. In the meantime, I believe we can do more to support our seniors now. One idea I would like to pursue is using a portion of Wilmington’s free cash reserves to reduce property taxes for residents aged 60 and older who have lived in Wilmington for at least 15 years. This would provide financial relief to our long-time senior residents as a way to thank them for their contributions to our town.
On April 26, I respectfully ask for your vote. I’m ready to show up every day and work hard to help keep Wilmington the strong, caring, and community-driven town that we’re all proud to call home.
Thank you,
Steven Hunt
