Below is a press release from the Shawsheen Tech:
BILLERICA, MA – Shawsheen Valley Technical High School is proud to celebrate a remarkable achievement at the 2025 SkillsUSA District 4 competition, held on March 14. Competing against six vocational schools in the region, including Essex Tech, Nashoba Tech, and Greater Lawrence Tech, Shawsheen students delivered an outstanding performance, earning 57 medals across a wide range of events.
A total of 156 students represented Shawsheen in 86 career and leadership competitions, showcasing their technical abilities, professionalism, and preparation. Their efforts resulted in 18 gold, 14 silver, and 25 bronze medals, many of which qualify students for the state-level SkillsUSA competition in May.
During a celebratory assembly on March 24, Assistant Chapter Advisor Karen Meister applauded the students’ dedication and drive. “This achievement reflects the students’ commitment to excellence and their focus on future career success,” Meister said.
The SkillsUSA competition series challenges students through three key assessments: a hands-on technical test (70%), a professional development and employability exam (20%), and an OSHA safety evaluation (10%). These events provide a real-world platform for students to apply their career and technical education, while receiving feedback from industry professionals.
“The mission of the SkillsUSA Championships is to celebrate student excellence, strengthen industry connections, and ensure that training remains aligned with workforce needs,” Meister added.
Shawsheen Tech extends its heartfelt congratulations to all participants and proudly recognizes the 57 medalists:
