LETTER: School Committee Member Michael Mercaldi Endorses Jesse Fennelly For School Committee

Dear Members of the Community,

I am writing to express my support for the re-election of Jesse Fennelly to the Wilmington School Committee. Having witnessed Jesse’s dedication, vision, and unwavering commitment to the betterment of our educational system, I firmly believe that he is an ideal candidate to continue serving our community.

Throughout Jesse’s tenure on the Wilmington School Committee, he has consistently demonstrated a profound understanding of the challenges and opportunities within our schools. His proactive approach to addressing these issues has resulted in significant improvements in both academic and extracurricular programs, benefiting students and teachers alike. A few key examples include the implementation of the updated literacy curriculum, pushing forward the comprehensive school building safety audit, continued support for athletics programs and helping to oversee operational improvements at the middle school.

Furthermore, Jesse’s leadership of the Committee as chair is invaluable at this time of transition. The School Committee is hiring an interim superintendent now and will need to hire a new full time superintendent next year. This position is critical to the success of the school district and with Jesse’s institutional knowledge and experience, he will be able to successfully guide the School Committee to select and onboard the right candidate.

Finally, on a personal note, I have got to know Jesse very well over the past two years serving with him on the School Committee. I found him to be a valued voice of reason that only wants to do what is best for students and the community at large. We need to continue to have people like this serve our community, so we can have the best outcomes for everyone.

Jesse Fennelly’s dedication, expertise, and passion for education make him an invaluable asset to the Wilmington School Committee. I am confident that his re-election will ensure continued progress and success for our schools.
