Wilmington Residents Invited To Celebrate Public Health Week With Tewksbury’s Public Health Museum

TEWKSBURY, MA — The Public Health Museum in Massachusetts is pleased to celebrate Public Health Week 2025. Marked nationally during the first week in April each year, the celebration recognizes the contributions of public health professionals and explores topics that are important for our collective health.

The museum will present a range of programs, free for the public.

On Monday, April 7th, Go behind the headlines with Dr. Catherin (Katie) Brown, Massachusetts State Epidemiologist and Public Health Veterinarian, and current president of the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists as she gives a clear and authoritative overview of the current Bird Flu epidemic. Learn about avian influenza, the current situation, and risks. Register HERE.

On Tuesday, April 8th, Prevention Partners of Northern Middlesex will present free naloxone/Narcan training at the museum. Learn how to spot an overdose, how fentanyl is making its way into look alike medications, and how to administer a lifesaving dose.

On Thursday, April 10th, the museum will be open free for tours from 10AM until 2PM. Learn about the history of public health through artifacts and the stories of those on the front lines. See the new exhibit, Pandemics: Is Hindsight 2020?  as it draws parallels between the influenza pandemic of 1918 and the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020.

On Friday, April 11th, local public health leaders will convene a Public Health Forum, moderated by Professor Harold Cox of the Boston University School of Public Health to discuss the challenges that local health boards and public health officials face in providing an increasingly wide range of services.

And, on Saturday, April 12th, the museum will host a tour of the Pines Cemetery in Tewksbury. Learn the history of the 10,000 souls buried in this pauper cemetery. Tour is $15 and space is limited. Registration required.
