Below is an update from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency:
Community Update — Olin Chemical Superfund Site
Last May, EPA approved Olin’s work plan that describes the general approach to designing the systems needed to address the contamination.
Beginning in August, Olin began submitting work plans to collect the additional data necessary to design the remediation systems.
These work plans are for the soil contamination on the 51 Eames Street property and the pools of Dense Aqueous Phase Liquid (DAPL) and groundwater hot spots.
EPA and MassDEP sent Olin several rounds of comments on the work plans. The agencies are currently reviewing the latest versions.
Under EPA oversight, Olin continues to collect information to address groundwater data gaps. This data will help refine and improve the effectiveness of future groundwater remediation. Additional data collection will continue through 2025.
