WILMINGTON, MA — Step into a world where love defies fate and hope flickers in the darkest of places as the Wilmington High School Lamplighters Drama Guild presents Hadestown: Teen Edition, an enthralling adaptation of Anaïs Mitchell’s Tony Award-winning musical.
Performances will take place on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 6:30pm; Friday, April 4, 2025 at 6:30pm; and Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 4pm inside the Joanne Benton Memorial Auditorium at Wilmington High School (159 Church Street).

Set in a mythic, dystopian landscape, Hadestown portrays the ancient Greek love story of Orpheus and Eurydice. At the heart of Hadestown is the dynamic relationship between the immortal gods Hades and Persephone, rulers of the underworld. Their tempestuous marriage mirrors the shifting seasons, with Persephone bringing warmth and life when she visits the world above and Hades maintaining his cold authoritarian grip on the underworld. The push and pull between these two titanic figures create a dramatic backdrop against which Orpheus and Eurydice’s love story unfolds.
Orpheus, a gifted musician with an unshakable belief in the power of love, embarks on a daring quest to rescue Eurydice from the depths of Hadestown. With only his music and unwavering hope, he must navigate the treacherous underworld and convince Hades to grant them passage back to the world above.
