Dear Friends, Neighbors and Wilmington Voters,
I am excited to announce my candidacy for reelection to the Wilmington School Committee. Over the next few weeks, I look forward to the opportunity to discuss my accomplishments, my goals for the next three years, and the challenges we face as a school district.
Over the past six years on the committee, I’ve worked hard to advocate for the best interest of the students, families, and staff of the Wilmington Public Schools. We’ve accomplished a lot in that time, but there is still work to do. Over the next year, the school committee will be responsible for hiring a new business manager/finance director to replace our retiring assistant superintendent of administration and finance; hiring an interim superintendent to help guide the district in the short term and choosing a permanent superintendent to replace Dr. Brand that will lead us into the future. We recently performed and received the recommendations of a safety audit for our schools and I look forward to working with leaders from our Police and Fire Departments to implement improvements where we can. Lastly, we are in the final stages of planning and seeking the residents’ approval for building a new elementary school on the “North” side of town and likely will need to explore a solution on the “West” side of town in the near future. These are all important to the future success of our district, and I hope to play a role in these decisions while continuing to work to ensure that our students, their families and our staff have the tools and support they need to be successful.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. I look forward to getting a chance to meet as many of you as I can between now and Election Day. I’ve worked hard every day for the last six years to earn and keep your trust, and I humbly and respectfully ask you to consider placing that trust in me again and casting one of your votes for me on April 26th.
Sincerely,
Jesse Fennelly
