Shawsheen Tech Celebrates Outstanding Students At Annual Citizenship Award Ceremonies

Below is a press release from the Shawsheen Tech:

BILLERICA, MA — Shawsheen Valley Technical High School proudly hosted its annual Citizenship Award ceremonies, a two-night tradition recognizing students who exemplify the school’s core values of Respect, Integrity, and Accountability. This year, 134 exceptional students from Shawsheen’s 1,300 student body were honored for their commitment to these principles.

Organized by the dean’s office, the event is a highlight of the school year, celebrating students who set an example of leadership and character. Honorees were nominated for demonstrating Shawsheen’s core values, with one student selected from each grade within every vocational program, as well as one student from each academic course.

Assistant Principal Kevin Caruso and Principal Jessica Cook led the ceremonies, presenting each recipient with a certificate and commemorative pin. The event always draws strong support from faculty and staff, who attended to applaud the students’ achievements. As a beloved tradition, the evening also featured Shawsheen’s signature Ice Cream Sundae Bar, prepared by the school’s culinary students.

Reflecting on the significance of the event, Assistant Principal Caruso emphasized the importance of recognizing students who demonstrate outstanding character and work ethic. “It’s essential to celebrate these students because they not only excel academically but also serve as role models for their peers,” he stated.

Principal Cook echoed this sentiment, highlighting how events like these contribute to a positive and supportive school culture.
