Below is an obituary from Nicholas Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — Marilyn A. West (Moore), age 94, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025.
Marilyn was born in Manchester, CT, on August 15, 1930; she was the dear daughter of the late Charles Henry and Gladys (Lyons) Moore. Marilyn was raised and educated in Manchester and was a graduate of Manchester High School. After graduating Marilyn took the trip of a lifetime and traveled all over Europe for three months with the Girl Scouts where she experienced new cultures, saw many beautiful places, and met many wonderful people.
Marilyn married George C. West and moved to Wilmington, MA, in 1951 and began decades of involvement in the community. Marilyn was an active member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church and Wilmington Senior Center where she met many long-time friends and was involved in countless activities and committees. She was employed as a clerk first in Hartford and then in Boston. Later in life, she worked as a teacher’s aide and payroll clerk for the Town of Wilmington.
Marilyn and George welcomed two wonderful daughters, Lynette and Donna. Marilyn loved being a mother. Her girls were “her world” and she encouraged them to do their best and follow their dreams. Marilyn was always a “Scout” at heart and was involved in the Walker School Mother’s Club and Camp Fire Girls when her daughters were younger. Later in life, Marilyn poured her heart into being a “Grammy” and “Great-Grammy”; she adored her grandchildren and looked forward to every moment they spent together.
In her spare time, Marilyn enjoyed knitting, embroidering, and doing crafts; she was an avid reader and loved to play bingo or a good board game. Marilyn enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends; she loved to see everyone enjoying themselves.
Marilyn will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor; she loved a good comedy and sharing a good joke. She enjoyed helping others and welcomed new friends throughout her life. Marilyn will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Marilyn was the devoted mother of Lynette D. West Raymond and her husband George Raymond of Princeton, MA and Donna L. West Conlon and her husband Patrick Conlon of Wakefield, MA. Loving “Grammy” of Lauren Raymond, Timothy Raymond and his wife Elizabeth, Sarah Raymond Boyan and her husband Kevin, Carolyn Conlon, Marybeth Moran and her husband Christopher, Alan Conlon and his fiancé Elizabeth Nuccio, and “Great-Grammy” to Elijah and Wesley Raymond and Holden, Cadence, and Madeline Moran. Dear sister of the late Henry “Norm” Moore, the late Richard Moore and his late wife Lois, and Lois Aliczi and her late husband Bruno. Marilyn was also the former wife and friend of the late George West and is further survived by her nieces, nephews, and friends.
Marilyn’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Windsor Place of Wilmington, Sunrise of Lynnfield, Winchester Hospital, and AllCare VNA for their support and care.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Friday, February 7th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A Service to celebrate Marilyn’s life will take place at the Funeral Home on Saturday, February 8th at 11:00.
