Geraldine A. (Reardon) DeBernardo, aged 82, of Wilmington, formerly of Billerica, passed away peacefully at home on January 27th, 2025.
Geraldine was born on October 26th, 1942 in Boston, MA to the late Alfred and Josephine (Peecha) Reardon. She was raised in a large and loving family in Boston where she attended Boston Public Schools, receiving her GED in 1960.
In 1960 Geraldine was introduced by a friend to a young Marine named Harry who had hitchhiked from where he was stationed in South Carolina back to Boston, to visit her every chance he got. Harry and Geraldine married that same year and started their family, traveling around before eventually settling in Billerica, where they raised their 5 boys. Geraldine and Harry spent 40 years together before his passing in 2000.
Geraldine loved being a mom and eventually a grandmother and great-grandmother as well. Family was very important to her. Along with family Geraldine was very devoted to God and was active in her church communities, both at St. Theresa’s in Billerica and later in life at St. Thomas in Wilmington. She even served as a eucharistic minister for many years.
Geraldine was the beloved wife of the late Harry DeBernardo. She was the loving mother of Michael DeBernardo, Domenick DeBernardo and his wife Johana, Nicholas DeBernardo and his wife Lori, Joseph DeBernardo and his wife Kristen, and the late Anthony DeBernardo. Geraldine was the cherished “Nana” for Ashley, Michael Jr., Deanna, Shane, Jared, James, Ricky, Gianina, Daniel, Alessandra, Domenick Jr., Angelina, Samantha, Nicole, Joseph Jr., Thomas, Juliana, Anthony Jr., Gianna and Ella. Geraldine was the dear sister of Alfred “Butchie” Reardon, Sheila (Reardon) Young, James Reardon, Thomas Reardon, Frederick Reardon, Laurie (Reardon) Flanagan and the late Maureen Reardon. Geraldine is also survived by her great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours on Saturday February 1st, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday February 1st, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 466 Boston Rd, Billerica, MA. Interment will follow in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica, MA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to St. Theresa’s of Billerica or St. Thomas of Wilmington.
