LIBRARY NEWS: Wilmington Library Digitizes Town Newspaper From 1930s & ’40s; Drop-In Chess Scheduled For February 5

Adult Programs

Afternoon Learn to Cross Stitch
Monday, February 3, 2:30pm
New to needlework? Head of Circulation Lisa Crispin will teach you the basics to start your first project! Materials and patterns will be provided.

Needleworkers at Night
Monday, February 3, 6pm
These nighttime sessions are perfect for anyone who does any kind of needle craft but can’t make it to Needleworkers during the day! Drop-in. This group meets every Monday in the cozy seating area on the first floor of the library.

Slice & Dice – A Pizza and Tabletop Game Night (Waitlist Only)
Tuesday, February 4, 6pm
Join Librarians Mary and Marie for Slice & Dice, our new monthly pizza and tabletop game night for adults. Each month, we’ll kick off with a featured game, followed by open play where you can explore our game library or bring your own favorites to share with the group! There is a rolling start between 6 and 6:30pm, so arrive when it is convenient for you. Then, dive into our featured game with guided instructions, or branch out and explore other games at our open-play tables!

Needleworkers
Friday, February 7, 10am
This is a social group for those who do any kind of needle craft. Bring your knitting, crocheting, quilting, etc. and enjoy conversation and camaraderie. Drop-in.

Youth Programs

Wilmington Community Playgroup
Monday, February 3, 10am
The Community Teamwork Family Resource Network is here weekly! Join CTI for a community playgroup where we’ll work on Early Literacy skills and much, much more! Ask CTI about any resources they can help provide for you and your family. The first playgroup of every month will focus on infants and toddlers. Ages 0-6

Preschool Storytime
Tuesday, February 4, 10am
Join us at our Preschool Storytime! This program includes books, rhymes, music and movement. Ages 3-6

Mindful Movement
Tuesday, February 4, 4pm
Join library pals as we flow through children’s yoga poses, calming activities, and books to help us grow in mindfulness and inner peace. Yoga mats will be provided during the program. Grades K-2

Teen Leadership Council
Tuesday, February 4, 6pm
Are you interested in advocating for what you want at WML? Have you volunteered before, but want to commit to more? Join our new Teen Leadership Council! Please email srottger@wilmlibrary.org with any questions. Grades 7-12

Time for Twos

Drop-in Chess
Wednesday, February 5, 3pm
Join the WHS Chess Club for low stakes, pickup chess games at the library! All skill levels are welcome. All ages (recommended for grades 6+)

Family Craft Night: Folded Hearts
Wednesday, February 5, 6pm
Complete a craft together with your family! Use Zines to make folded hearts for Valentine’s Day! Ages 3+

Baby Time

Join us at our Baby Time! This program includes books, rhymes, music and movement. Ages 0-23 months

Playful Pathways: Food Fuels
Friday, February 7, 11am
During our Food and Nutrition Unit, come learn how food fuels our bodies and complete a STEAM activity! Ages 0-5

LEGO Building
Friday, February 7, 3:45pm
Build with LEGOs at the same time as other LEGO fans and display what you make in the library! Grades K-5

Teen DnD
Saturday, February 8, 2pm
Looking for a group to play with? Join us in person for Dungeons and Dragons at the library. You may also participate on Discord, a private server. We use DnDBeyond or physical sheets to track and create our characters. You must attend a D&D 101 session at the library before joining our campaign. These will be held monthly on the second Tuesday evening. Please reach out to srottger@wimlibrary.org with any questions. Grades 6-12

New Library Hours
Wilmington Memorial Library has updated its hours! We are open Monday through Thursday from 9 A.M. to 8:30 P.M. and Friday/Saturday from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. Stop by and check out what’s new—we can’t wait to see you!

Wilmington Mirror Digital Archive
Wilmington Memorial Library recently collaborated with the Harnden Tavern to digitize 98 issues of the Wilmington Mirror newspaper, a precursor to the Wilmington Crusader and Town Crier. The newly digitized issues span the 1930s and 1940s, are searchable, and can be viewed on the library’s website or by going to bit.ly/wilmingtonmirror.

Book Store Next Door
The Book Store Next Door is open Saturdays from 10am – 4pm. In January and February, the store is closed Wednesdays. Wednesday hours will resume March 5th.

Museum Passes
The library has discounted passes to your favorite Massachusetts museums, attractions, and state parks. Find the full list by visiting wilmlibrary.org/services/mp.

WML In-Person Programming
Registration is required for most in-person programs. Please check our website on the day of the program to confirm location. Masks are no longer required for vaccinated patrons while visiting the library.

WML Virtual Programming
The library continues to offer a variety of virtual events. Please note that registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link. Go to wilmlibrary.org to register or call 978-658-2967.

Call for artwork! Did you know the Wilmington Memorial Library allows professional artists to exhibit their work in the library’s Stewart Room? Interested artists can apply to exhibit their work by visiting https://bit.ly/wmlart.
