SIERRA VISTA, AZ _- Michael Cassidy age 61 of Sierra Vista, Arizona passed away on December 28, 2024 after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer.
Michael was born April 18, 1963, the son of the late Stanley Cassidy Jr and the late Marion (Barrett) Cassidy. Michael graduated from Wilmington High School in 1981. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served for 23 years active Military, another 20 years for the Department of Army Civilian where he worked as an educator. While serving his country, Michael received many accolades and awards for his time and service including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (4th Award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (8th Award), and the Humanitarian Service Medal.
Michael met the love of his life and better half Jin Sook while on his first deployment to Seoul, South Korea. Upon the return of his second deployment, they were married April 18,1990. Their journey through a life of military travel, took them to Monterey, California, back to Seoul, South Korea, and eventually to Sierra Vista, Arizona where they made thier forever home. During this time they had two children together, Cynthia and Michael Jr, these were to be his most proud, beloved and cherished accomplishments above all else. Michael was a hands-on Father, whether it be chaperoning band events, to sneaking his kids out to fishing trips on Patagonia. Regardless of the event, Michael always made a point to make time for his children, to be active and present in their everyday childhood and adult life. Unconditional love is what defined him. This is what gave him the most joy in life.
Michael was the beloved husband of Jin Sook Cassidy, father to Cynthia Cassidy and Michael Cassidy Jr, both of Tucson, Arizona. Michael was the brother of Barbara Sullivan of Florida, Patricia Abbott and her husband Ralph of Massachusetts, John Cassidy and his wife Bernadette of North Carolina, and Stephan Cassidy and his wife Ema of Florida. Michael is survived by many nieces and nephews and very dear friends.
