OBITUARY: Lucy Ann (Cassaro) Tamburino, 99

WILMINGTON, MA — Lucy Ann (Cassaro) Tamburino, age 99, of Wilmington, formerly of Medford and Burlington, passed away on January 9, 2025.

Lucy was born on November 11, 1925, in Boston, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Jenny (Bellino) Cassaro.  Lucy was raised in Boston’s West End as part of a large Italian family.

Lucy married her husband, Alfred (Fred) R. Tamburino, and they settled in Burlington, where they raised their three children, JoAnn, Dawn, and John.  Lucy and Fred created many wonderful family memories including summers by the pool, dinners with neighbors in the backyard, and countless family functions. 

Lucy’s life was her family; she was a devoted wife and loving mother.  She enjoyed cooking every night and caring for her home.  Lucy loved the holidays; she enjoyed entertaining and preparing special holiday meals, which always included her famous rice pilaf. 

In her spare time, Lucy enjoyed playing cards with her cousins every Friday night; they had a great time playing games, socializing and enjoying each other’s company.  Lucy and Fred, a former Marine, traveled from state to state each year attending the Annual Marine Reunions.  They looked forward to visiting Fred’s fellow Marines and took advantage of the sightseeing in each state.

Lucy was the beloved wife of the late Alfred R. Tamburino, devoted mother of JoAnn Tamburino & her late husband Walter Green, Dawn Nims & her late husband Robert all of Wilmington, and John Tamburino of Billerica, loving “Nan” of Renee & George Maihos, Christopher Green, Jared & Alexa Nims, Kyle Nims, Jonathon Tamburino, Zachary Tamburino, and Alfred (AJ) Tamburino, “Great-Nan” of Samantha & Sebastian Belanger, Mackenzie Goodhue, Joseph Goodhue, Ariana Green, Christopher Green, Savannah Long and Thomas Nims, “Great-Great Nan” of Hailey Belanger, dear sister of the late Peter Cassaro, Grace Castro, Salvatore Cassaro, Louis Cassaro, and Peter Cassaro.  Lucy is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and many life-long friends.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Thursday, January 16th from 9:00-10:30 immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Raphael’s Church, 512 High Street, Medford at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
