OBITUARY: Sonya Jean (Budd) Ross, 53

WILMINGTON, MA — Sonya Jean (Budd) Ross, age 53, of Methuen, passed away on January 2, 2025.

Sonya was born on April 13, 1971, in Winchester, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary Ann (Soroka) Budd. Sonya was raised in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1989.

Sonya met her husband, William “Frank” Ross, through mutual friends; they dated for three years and were married at St. Thomas Church on September 19, 1999. Sonya and Frank settled in Methuen, where they raised their two children. Carly and Will were the light of Sonya’s life; she was so proud to be their mom and was always willing to help with anything they needed. Sonya was involved in the kids’ school and sporting events, often volunteering as the Team Mom or organizing social events for the kids. Sonya’s home was open to all; she treated her kid’s friends as if they were her own.

For the last four years, Sonya worked at Northeast Demo Company as their administrator. She was very organized and reliable, often taking on new tasks to make it easier on her co-workers. Sonya was a great source of information and was dedicated to her position at the company.

Sonya’s family was her world; she loved spending time with Frank, her children, her dogs and her extended family. Sonya looked forward to holidays where she could visit with her three sisters and their children. The holidays were filled with fun, laughter and games. Sonya really enjoyed cooking for her family and friends; she liked to try new recipes and knew everyone’s favorite dishes.

In her spare time, Sonya enjoyed scrapbooking; she was very detailed and made special baby books for her children to treasure. Sonya was artistically talented, a trait she passed on to her daughter, and she loved working on new projects.

Sonya will be remembered as the center of her family; she was their “go-to girl”, the wife and mom who knew how to take care of everyone, gave the best advice and supported her family with love. She was strong, loving, and kind and she will be deeply missed by her family.

Sonya was the beloved wife of William “Frank” Ross, II, devoted mother of Carly Ross and Will Ross of Methuen, dear sister of Pamela Gondola & her husband John of Tewksbury, Debbie Carriere & her husband Tony and Donna Connolly & her husband Dennis all of Wilmington, sister-in-law of Jacqueline Ross of Milton, NH. Sonya is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Tuesday, January 14th at 9:30 a.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, January 13th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
