WILMINGTON, MA — Nancy J. (Wrenn) Steen, 87, a long-time Wilmington resident, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 21, 1937, in Boston, MA, Nancy was the cherished daughter of Daniel J. and MaryEllen (Daly) Wrenn. Raised in Charlestown, she was part of a large, loving Irish family.
Nancy married the love of her life, Joseph M. Steen, on June 30, 1957. They moved to Wilmington in 1962, where they raised seven children. Nancy was a devoted homemaker who cherished her roles as wife, mother, and Nana. The Steen home was always open, offering warmth, hugs, and a place to rest.
Active in her community, Nancy was a Blue Bird and Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, Eucharistic Minister, and past president of Auxiliary Post 136 Wilmington. She and Joe co-founded J&B Catering, marched in Memorial Day parades, and volunteered for Local Heroes.
Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Joseph M. Steen, devoted mother of Deborah & Joe Stygles, the late Joseph P. Steen, Richard R. Steen, Nancy J. Steen, Karen & Michael Lucier, Robert & Terry Steen, and Mary Ellen Steen Deschenes & Marc Cierri. She was a loving “Nana” to 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Nancy was a dear sister to Barbara Marsden, Danny & Amy Wrenn, Johnny & Linda Wrenn, and the late MaryEllen Howell, Carol Wrenn, and Joe Wrenn. She was also a cherished sister-in-law, friend, and aunt to many.
Family and friends will gather at Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Saturday, January 11th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, January 10th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
