OBITUARY: Eileen (Kieran) Doane, 76

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Eileen (Kieran) Doane, age 76, of Wilmington, formerly of Lynn, passed away peacefully at home on December 19, 2024, with her family at her side.

Eileen was born in Lynn, MA, on January 27, 1948; she was the cherished daughter of the late Donald and Agnes (Walsh) Kieran. Eileen was raised and educated in a large and loving Irish family in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School with the Class of 1965.

Eileen married her “high school sweetheart and best friend” Vernon H. Doane, Jr. on August 10, 1968; the couple settled in their hometown of Lynn where they raised two beautiful daughters, Karen and Kelly. Eileen was extremely devoted to her family; she showered them with unconditional love, encouraged them to do their best, and was always their biggest fan. Eileen was big on family traditions and holidays; she was the ultimate hostess, and her door was always open to family and friends. Eileen knew how to throw a party and always made everyone feel welcomed and loved.

Eileen was the best “mom” and “Nana”, she attended countless school and sporting events throughout the years and was so proud of her family and their accomplishments. As Eileen’s family grew, she welcomed her “sons” in law Joe and Rich and treated them as her own. Eileen’s favorite role in life came as she welcomed her grandchildren Kristina, Julia, Joey, and Grace, and became a doting “Nana” who adored her grandchildren and would do anything to make them happy.

Prior to retiring, Eileen worked as a Service Manager for the Shaw’s and Star Market food stores. Eileen’s strong work ethic along with her endearing personality made her quite an asset to the company. Eileen enjoyed her job; she was great with the customers and made many long-time friends with her co-workers who she loved.

In her spare time, Eileen looked forward to traveling and cruising with her husband Vern, her family, and friends. Eileen liked seeing new places, meeting new people, and trying new customs; that along with hitting the dance floor on their many cruises. Eileen also enjoyed gardening and time spent with her many friends on new adventures.

Eileen will be fondly remembered as a wonderful lady, with an adventurous spirit, a beautiful smile, and a heart of gold. She loved her family and friends with all her heart, and she will forever be their “dancing queen”.

Eileen was the beloved wife of Vernon H. Doane, Jr., devoted mother of Karen Galvin and her husband Joseph and Kelly Nashawaty and her husband Richard. Loving “Nana” of Kristina, Julia, and Joey Galvin and Grace Nashawaty. Dear sister of James Kieran and his wife Ann, Dan Kieran and his wife Sheila, the late Richard Kieran and the late Donna Adams. Eileen is further survived by many special brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation on Monday, December 23rd from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rte. 38), Wilmington, MA, at 11:00 a.m.
