Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — James F. Largenton, “Jim”, age 77, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away on December 9, 2024.
Jim was born on May 26, 1947, in Cambridge, MA; he was the cherished son of the late Arthur L. Largenton, Jr. and Ellen (Hughes) Largenton. Jim was raised and educated in Arlington.
Following graduation, Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. on May 1, 1967. He served overseas during the Vietnam War for more than seven months and was awarded the Purple Heart medal for his sacrifice. Jim returned home to his family on May 21, 1970.
Jim married the love of his life, Sandra M. (Borsini) on September 21, 1974; they just celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Jim and Sandra moved to Wilmington where they raised their family of four children, Jim, Jr., Jeffrey, and twins, Emily and Ellen. The Largenton family had an “open door” policy at their house; they loved to entertain family and friends at the pool in the backyard. It gave Jim great joy to watch his children and grandchildren have fun while splashing and jumping in the pool.
Jim was a dedicated and loyal firefighter for the Town of Arlington for more than thirty-two years. Jim loved his job and the residents of Arlington; he took great pride in knowing all the streets of Arlington, Cambridge and Belmont. His fellow firefighters could count on “Largie” to know where to go when a call came in. Jim retired in 2001 and although he missed being a firefighter, he enjoyed his retirement with his family.
In his spare time, Jim liked to take long rides in his truck; he enjoyed driving around Wilmington and making his daily stops along the way. Jim played cards each week with a group of friends; each person took a turn hosting, and he looked forward to socializing and winning a few rounds.
Jim will be remembered for his love of Boston sports, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. Jim often watched the games from home and loved it when his family and friends stopped by to watch with him.
Jim was the beloved husband of Sandra M. (Borsini) Largenton, devoted father of James F. Largenton, Jr. & his wife Amy of Wilmington, Jeffrey Largenton & his wife Sara of Wilmington, Emily Ham & her husband Austin of Newburyport, and Ellen Daye & her husband Philip of Dracut, loving “Papa” of Jeffrey, Jr., Sarah, Emma, Aidan, Meghan, and Avery, dear brother of Martha Morabito & her husband Jim of Newbury, Arthur L. Largenton, III & his wife Theresa of Arlington and Robert Largenton & his wife Debbie of Arlington, brother-in-law of Jerry & Carolyn Borsini of Billerica and Anthony Borsini & his late wife Keri of Reading.
